Office 365 - Where is picture manager?

Because they wanted to "encourage" people to use the "Metro" (cr)applets in Win 8. As you pointed out, too bad those "replacements" are "functionally deficient" compared to Picture manager.

Unfortunately this is one of those issues where "MS knows best".  Well, what they think best for for their "business vision", which often is not synonymous with what users think is best for their day-to-day productivity.

This is not the place to ask "MS" for explanations. You will virtually never get one. 

Venting is also personally helpful. Too bad there are virtually no MS managers monitoring (or at least replying) to any questions and venting done here.  A MUCH better place for venting is the "UserVoice" forum.  MS has set up multiple sub sites there to accept complaints, bug reports and new feature requests from individual users. AND, there is independent verification that MS actively monitors submissions there.  So, please add you comment and vote to this existing suggestion on the subject:

Why in the world would MS remove such a tiny yet helpful tool?  Using Windows Live Photo Gallery is too "distant" and has too many bells and whistles, thus making it much more time-consuming to use.  Just because MS is updating an Office Suite doesn't mean apps on which users heavily rely and which work well should be tossed.  It's exactly this type of unhelpful deletion of a much needed tool makes me reconsider my choices re Apple v. MS.

They pulled it out in Office 2013.  At that time they were pushing Win 8 and they claimed that the "metro" picture (c)rapplet was the "replacement" for picture manager.  But users disagreed.

Yes, I too get a total "whatever dude" vibe from MS these days.  How could they possibly release 2016 without a working grammar checker?  Don't try to tell it is working. 9 grammar checking options when there used to be 34 is not a working grammar subsystem.

I've read you post before, I may have even responded--bad memory (me not the computer--well maybe the computer).  I do get the feeling that Microsoft just changes things to change things.  But the real problem is that there are (apparently) no adults or quality managers around to direct or redirect creative energies.  It appears to me that "whatever" is the word Microsoft now lives by.  Too bad.
