OneNote for Mac crashes on start

<p>Today, when using OneNote for Mac my MacBook Pro crashed. After rebooting, it told me OneNote had caused the crash. Now, everytime I open OneNote, the app crashed immediately. I've tried re-installing through the App Store and removing caches but it keeps crashing on start.</p><p></p><p>What to do? Most important is there are a lot of unsynced changes I cannot afford to lose...</p>

I was able to fix the crash on startup by following these steps from another thread:

  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac
  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office
  • Open up “Keychain Access” app on your Mac, and search for “MicrosoftOffice”. If OneNote recognized that you signed in, you will have an entry with a long name. Delete it.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try launching OneNote and signing in again.

    i tried deleting and restarting as stated below and didn't work ... ps I also have another folder "com.microsoft.onenote.mac.sharextensions" ????? 

    Im not a computer smart geek ;-0)

    Using OneNote v15.13.2 on a mac book air Yosemite - I also suddenly began to have this trouble - crashes after 1.3min. or so tried the library folder solution below - didn't work ... heres my error log below:

    Just doing the following one step and starting OneNote again solved the issue for me: 

    • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac

    I've been trawling the Internet trying to find an easy solution, because not all of us can follow/find the solution to this problem. The best solution I have found and am currently using is downloading an app called "Outline" from the app store. It will sync with your old onenote notebooks, so you don't loose your work. Plus it doesn't crash!
