OneNote for Mac crashes on start

<p>Today, when using OneNote for Mac my MacBook Pro crashed. After rebooting, it told me OneNote had caused the crash. Now, everytime I open OneNote, the app crashed immediately. I've tried re-installing through the App Store and removing caches but it keeps crashing on start.</p><p></p><p>What to do? Most important is there are a lot of unsynced changes I cannot afford to lose...</p>

I was able to fix the crash on startup by following these steps from another thread:

  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac
  • Delete this folder: ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office
  • Open up “Keychain Access” app on your Mac, and search for “MicrosoftOffice”. If OneNote recognized that you signed in, you will have an entry with a long name. Delete it.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try launching OneNote and signing in again.

    Hi all, I too found OneNote was unable to launch, but with the help of 'Mark DS' on http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office\_onenote-onenote\_mac/onenote-crashes-constantly-on-yosemite-will-not/2abf48a1-fad7-4528-acd1-f071115fa5fc?rtAction=1416113098554, managed to solve the issue. 

    If you're still having problems, I'd recommend trying the following steps: 

    1. Uninstall OneNote (Delete from Application folder).
    2. Delete the ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac folder. 
    3. Delete the ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office folder. 

    [Note: This may store data for other Office programs. If you use other Office applications, I'd suggest making a backup of this and replacing it later if it does not cause any problems.]

    1. Run the 'Keychain Access' program (found in Applications/Utilities) and search for 'Microsoftoffice'. Delete the entries associated. 

    [Steps 1 - 4 are the general responses provided by Microsoft to solve the issue. If this does not solve your issue, proceed to Step 5.]

    5a. From Finder (on the menu bar at the top of the screen), click Go > Go to Folder. Type in /var. 

    5b. Search within /var for 'onenote'.

    5c. Select all of the files (there should be around 6 to 8 of them)

    5d. Delete them all. (BE CAREFUL TO ONLY DELETE ONENOTE-RELATED FILES!)

    1. Empty the trash of everything that we've deleted. It may say some files are in use and cannot be deleted. Restart your computer and delete them. 
    2. Reinstall OneNote from the Mac App Store. 
    3. Enjoy OneNote! 

    I was facing the 'Thread 0 EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)' error. OneNote launched on other user accounts that I created, but not mine. This solved my problem. Hope it helps some others too!

    I upgraded to the newest version, 15.2, several days ago.  Everything was working fine until yesterday.  Now whenever I start OneNote for Mac on my Macbook Pro it crashes immediately.  I have tried removing and re-installing the app but it doesn't help.

    The same notebooks open fine on my Macbook Air as well as on my virtual machine.

    It works perfectly fine on another user account. However, on mine it still crashes. The crash report was too long to post, but I've pasted it here.

    Check how it works in a new user account on the mac.

    Also can you provide the crash logs?
