I’m having problems installing Office, how do I fix this?

Do you know the exact error you’re getting?

Depending on the error or the problem, there are different steps you can take and there are Microsoft articles that can help. For example:

If you get an error that contains “integratedoffice.exe”, look at this article: Fix integratedoffice.exe install errors in Office 2013 or Office 365.

If the installation is hanging at different percentages, look at this article: Microsoft Office 2013 or Office 365 hangs during setup.

If the download is very slow, look at this article: Downloading Office 2013 is slow.

    For those of you that are Administrators and using the Click To Run install from a local fileserver I figured out one thing about the paths.  There is obviously a major glitch in the code for using UNC paths.  If I put something like \\fileserver\setup.exe /configure \\fileserver\configuration.xml it will fail almost immediately.  If I map a network drive to the same location and do say z:\setup.exe /configure z:\configuration.xml it will get a little farther but still blow up with an error of "Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again"

    Now, if I am very quick when I run that again, I can get into that folder and see the integratedoffice.exe file before it fails and then deletes the whole folder.  It seems like they are trying to open the c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe as a UNC path or something and it fails for obvious reasons. 

    Now, if I take the exact same setup.exe, configuration.xml and the downloaded Office folder from the z:\setup.exe /download z::\configuration.xml, move it to say the local c: drive root, change the xml to point to that local location and run c:\setup.exe /configure c:\configuration.xml it will run and COMPLETELY INSTALL!

    Hopefully maybe this little tidbit will help someone out there or even better help the Microsoft engineers find the problem a little faster!

    On a side note I did make sure that the Office 15.0 registry keys were removed before each subsequent trial just to be safe and also made sure the directory actually got deleted if the install failed.

    If you are trying to stop getting emails from any given post you have to login to your Live account and under your profile you should see a Notifications tab you select the appropriate Thread and click the stop emails icon

    IT Director of 1000 users. I am taking the dog food approach and trying Windows 8 / Office 2013 on my new PC before rolling out. Not been technical for 5 years. Its sad to see MS are back to their bad ways of screw you IT departments of the world we are going to make you lives difficult and expensive.

    Day 5 of trying to install Office. MS did dial in but could not fix it. Even on reformatted PC it would not install.

    Hate myaccount. I bought 20 licences. You can not find the right click and run download as the serial number is hidden under burn DVD.

    Windows 8 is not fit for businesses. I am going to give it a month but my productivity will drop. I need to open apps not see scrolling news. 

    MS need to wake up. I am trialling Google apps and libreoffice. Will save a fortune.
