What replaces office picture manager in office 2013?

The Office Picture Manager has been a very quick and easy tool to use, built into Office and readily available no matter what machine I have to use. I would rather not have to install 3rd party software to do what MS has made easy to do in the past.

Any word on what this app is called now and where it's hidden in the Office 2013 install?

The best workaround I've found is to use the free SharePoint Designer 2010 to bootstrap the MS Office Picture Manager.

The short version is to run the installer.

Then choose "Customize" instead of "Install Now".

Then deselect everything that's not "Office Tools" > "Microsoft Office Picture Manager"

Hey John,

You are correct that Office Picture Manager was removed from the suite. Inside programs such as PowerPoint and Word there are still editing tools. You also have Windows Live Photo Gallery which I feel is a much more program specific picture editing tool. Hopefully the small change does not effect your trial of the Next Microsoft Office.

The Office Picture Manager was the best program. Why Microsoft made the decision to dump it is beyond me. I sell on EBay and after taking hundreds of photos, being able to edit them quickly, easily, and in multiple format was a no brainer with OPM. Now I have to struggle through the many apps available via Windows 8 to get the edit features offered in one great program, OPM. I purchased the New Office product for one year for $99 thinking OPM would be there for me, big mistake. I am going to uninstall the Office 13 reload my Office 10 in order to get OPM back and get my work done quickly and without the hassle of moving from APP to APP in order to brighten, crop, resize, etc. and do it all for multi photos. $99 down the drain. Big mistake by Microsoft in dumping this perfect program.

Why does Microsoft have to do this? Too often when they make a new version they remove one of the best features. Like Windows 2008 with no POP3 support. Removing picture manager was a huge mistake. Live Photo Gallery is a PAIN to use, it takes much longer to do the same thing, and it is backwards the way it saves files. What happened to the Save As option when you want to save the changes to a new file? I know one thing - I will not be ordering any more new PCs with Office 2013 or Windows 8. And if they make it where Windows 7 and Office 2010 are no longer available, I won't buy anything from Microsoft, except maybe a mouse. They make good mice and keyboards...
