rendering the fonts in word 2013 is horrible!

Will Microsoft change it?

This is a similar problem like with Internet Explorer 9 & 10.

What is going on?

IE8 works good, Office 2010 also...

Then?

Check under File>Options>Advanced>Display and check the box for "Use subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen" and also try changing the setting for "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

    Same here on my desktop.

None of the nonsense repeated ad nauseam in this and other threads fixes the problem.

Of course not. The product is broken and no end user's voodo magic or placebo advice from selfclaimed experts will ever fix it.

If the Vendor does not deliver a version with changed rendering backend you have no options.

So either give up on it, change to older versions, hope for the next version or start looking for products from other companies ( the same advice goes for Windows as OS. )

It doesn't fix anything in my Sony Vaio VPCF1 Win 8.1 x64 machine... still blurry.

Un-checking the above options fixed the problem for me. Specifically "use subpixels". I haven't had an issue since.
