How to turn off "Microsoft Office Upload Center" in Office 2010

I found out how.  You can block its startup by unchecking it in msconfig> startup, the MSOSYNC entry,   Also it can be blocked in a registry edit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Remove the "OfficeSyncProcess" DWord entry

Following a restart the system tray icon did not appear, nor do I see any process for it running.  This issue has been discussed in some previous posts related to Office 2010 integration wiht sharepoint and SkyDrive, apparently.  I had just not encountered it before having Office 2010 on a machine.

It is NOT advisable to suggest to just "anyone" to enter into a registry editor and make changes of ANY KIND!!!

Although most computer savvy folks can navigate with out any harm being done, novice and moderate users should never make registry changes, nor edit the registry without FIRST making a backup!

Any mistakes can often lead to a dead computer that won't restart. Although there are some easy fixes to registry errors for most computer gurus, to a normal person it would mean a costly repair trip (most places like "the Geek Squad" at Best Buy charge $100 to even sneeze at your computer and most shops know you are not savvy so will put the screws to you).

The MSCONFIG is the most likely solution. That was a good tip!

This appears to be the only way to disable this in office 2013.  Microsoft must have realized people don't want this garbage and, instead of giving them an easy way to get rid of it, they force it down everyone's throat.

Do the same with MSOUC.EXE as well.

Edit the permissions and deny all access for this file.

Seriously f***ing Microsoft, its 2014, and they are still doing this **** to us? They install some backdoor **** processes that use a huge amount of memory, then make it nearly impossible to remove them. I tried removing with control panel microsoft office, change features, and it would say it removed features but didn't. I swear to God, I'm done with Microsoft, my next computer will be a Mac, and I'll use OpenOffice or some **** if I have to. They've wasted another hour of my time with their blatantly fascist annoying policies.

Microsoft keeps making things more difficult to access and doesn't care at all about user experience. And they keep f***ing making internet explorer the default browser behind my back. These practices are unethical and stupid. Bill Gates and the old guard need to go. They need to fire the entire top management of Microsoft. Instead of creating a competitive product, Microsoft creates software that operates like a virus. Bing may as well be a virus. Instead of innovating, Microsoft de-innovates.

I searched around, there is no easy/permanent way to accomplish this, as Microsoft has designed it this way, other than not using the newer versions of office.

Easiest fix I found:

1) Install as few features as possible during initial install

2) Create a fake MSOSYNC.exe, delete the old one

3) Create a fake CSISYNC.exe, delete the old one

4) Restart

5) Make sure that the two processes didnt start in task manager

6) Do not let office update or connect to the internet, occasionally check task manager in the future as they will likely reinstall themselves as Microsoft designs software that operates like a virus, eating up huge amounts of memory, stealing your data, starting or installing itself without permission and disabling access.

1 kill the process MSOSYNC.EXE.

2 Move mouse over the orange icon.
