Office 2013 Installation Error "Something went wrong"

Hi all,

Here is the workaround that helped us get through this issue.

Do not use IE to try running the FixIT as towards the end of FixIT step, it expects IE, Windows Explorer or any other Windows Open Application to be closed.

Use other browsers, like Mozilla or Google Chrome and allow it to run through including the fix solution towards the end.

Ensure all MS office components are uninstalled in the Control Panel -> Programs list

Then initiate the install exe that gets downloaded if you are doing the install from the web.

Note You must be logged on to Windows with a user account that is a computer administrator to complete this method. If this is your personal computer, you are likely already logged on with an administrator account. If this is a computer that is part of a network, you might have to ask the system administrator for help. Step 1: Remove the remaining Windows Installer packages

1. Open the Office 15 installation folder. By default, the folder is located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15.
2. Open the root folder, open the integration folder, and then delete all the C2RManifest*.xml files, such as c2rmanifest.officemui.msi.zip.en-us.
3. Open an elevated command prompt by performing the following actions.

For Windows 7

1. Click **Start**. Click **All Programs**, and then open the

Accessories folder. 2. Right-click Command Promptand then select Run as administrator.

For Windows 8 1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. 2. In the Appsbox, type CMD. In the results pane, swipe down on Command Prompt to reveal the charm bar, then click Run as administrator on the charm bar. If you are using a mouse, right-click Command Prompt to reveal the charm bar. 4. At the command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each one:

cd "C:\Program files\Microsoft Office 15\root\integration"integrator.exe /U

Step 2: Remove the Office 2013 scheduled tasks

1. Open an elevated command prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each one:

schtasks.exe /delete /tn "\Microsoft\Office\Office 15 Subscription Heartbeat" **** schtasks.exe /delete /tn "\Microsoft\Office\Office Automatic Update" **** schtasks.exe /delete /tn "\Microsoft\Office\Office Subscription Maintenance" ****

Step 3: End the Click-to-Run tasks from Task Manager

1. Open the Task Manager.

For Windows 7

Right-click an empty area of the taskbar, and then select Start Task Manager.For Windows 8 1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. 2. In the Appsbox, type Task Manager. In the results pane, click Task Manager to open it. 2. Click the Process tab, if the following processes are running, right click it, and then select End Process. In Windows 8, select End Task. - integratedoffice.exe - appvshnotify.exe - firstrun.exe - setup*.exe

Step 4: Remove the Office 2013 service

1. Open an elevated command prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter:

sc delete OfficeSvc

Step 5: Delete the Office 2013 files

1. Open the Run dialog box by performing the following actions.

For Windows 7 1. Click Start. Click All Programs, and then open the Accessories folder. 2. Click Run.

For Windows 8 1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. 2. In the Appsbox, type Run. In the results pane, click Run to open it.

Note: In Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can also press Windows logo key+R to open the Run dialog box. 2. In the Open box, type %ProgramFiles%, and then click OK. 3. Delete the Microsoft Office 15 folder. 4. Open the Run dialog box, type %ProgramData%\Microsoft, and then click OK. 5. Delete the ClickToRun folder. If the folder does not exist, move to the next action. 6. Open the Run dialog box, type %ProgramData%\Microsoft\office, and then click OK. 7. Delete the FFPackageLocker file.

Note If you cannot delete a folder or a file that it is open or is being used by another program, restart the computer and then try again. If you still cannot remove the folder, go to the next step directly.

Step 6: Delete the Office 2013 registry subkeys

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

1. Open Registry Editor. For Windows 7
   1. Click Start. Click All Programs, and then open the Accessories folder.
   2. Click Run.
   3. Type regedit, and then click OK.

For Windows 8 1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search. 2. In the Appsbox, type regedit. In the results pane, click regedit to open it. 2. Delete the following registry subkeys: - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppVISV - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft Office <Edition>15 - en-us

Note The name of subkey "Microsoft Office 15 <Edition>- en-us" depends on the Office 2013 stock-keeping unit (SKU) and language version that you installed.

Step 7: Delete the Office 2013 start menu shortcuts

1. Open the Run dialog box.
2. In the Run box, type %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programsand press Enter.
3. Delete the Office 2013 folders.

Step 8: Uninstall the Microsoft Office Habanero Local Component and Habanero Supplemental Local Component

1. Open an elevated command prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type one of the following commands, and then press Enter.
   • If you are running an x86 version of Office 2013 on an x64 operating system, run the following command: MsiExec.exe /X{50150000-008F-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}
   • If you are running an x86 version of Office 2013 on an x86 operating system, run the following command: MsiExec.exe /X{50150000-007E-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}
   • If you are running an x64 version of Office 2013 on an x64 operating system, run the following command: MsiExec.exe /X{50150000-008C-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}

If the steps worked to remove Office, you'll need to reinstall Office now. Here's how:
