Cannot play video from YouTube through PowerPoint 2013

Just tried to "insert" a video from YouTube using two methods: by pasting the "old embed code" and through the YouTube app. When I try to play the video I receive the following error, "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

The thing is, I have the latest version of flash installed (11.6.602.180). I am running Windows 8 (64-bit). Does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?

We have been hard at work to bring back support for YouTube videos to PowerPoint. We are happy to share that we are now bringing back support for inserting and playing back YouTube videos in PowerPoint 2010 and PowerPoint 2013 with the latest updates.

    Just a quick confirm; I tried it this morning on a Win7 / PPT 2010 computer and all is well still by changing version=3 to version=2 in both locations.

    AFAIK it still works - are you sure you changed BOTH and made no mistake. Post your embed code.

    I looks that replace to versio=2 not work again.

    I tired this method last week, it works.

    But when I try to do the same thing again, theis not work anymore.

    I am not sure, but it look that PowerPoint remove the "version" token automaticly...

    Does anyone have the same problem?

    Is there anyone have solution?

    Thank you William and John. This worked.

    My 7 year old embedded a youtube video into her powerpoint couple of weeks ago and it was playing just fine. To our consternation last evening it just wouldn't work. I tried on 3 different computers - re-embedding, removing version=3 etc. Nothing worked. The same annoying "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website." message again and again. BTW, our Flash Player is latest and greatest.

    I hope this is fixed ASAP. This is such a basic usecase nowadays. WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE, PLEASE GET THE CUSTOMER COMMUNITY OUT OF THIS MISERY.
