scrolling speed excel with filters

Scrolling is terribly slow if I have filters active.

I have a 40,000 row sheet, and it scrolls normally when no filters are active.

If i have a filter that excludes most of the items except for 100 or so, the scrolling is unbearable. It's like its scrolling through the hidden rows or something to that effect.

I have updated to the latest office patch and i have a 2010 core i7 MBP with an SSD and 8GB of ram running Lion.

This is basic basic stuff, it's incomprehensible that this would be an issue.

    I might add that XinXin is the head of R&D for Excel. If it's someone who can keep a secret. I would be him.

    Also the best way is to upload you file to SkyDrive, DropBox, SugarSync, Box, etc. Then provide a Link to the file.

    To prevent just anyone from down loading the file, email XinXin directly and give him the link.

    I am sure as soon as he does his research on the file he will destroy. He has no use for it.

    So each of you people when XinXin or other tell you take up his offer, Take it!

    I have almost the same problem.

    When i'm working with my excel 2011 on mac, 14.2.1 version, when the file size exceeds 20 mb (on file format xlsx), it becomes impossible to work with!

    I have tried everything suggested here! (fonts, clear recents etc..)

    I have also tried to use the xlsb binary format to reduce the file size; the file size is now half the original size (it was 20mb, now its 10 mb), but it still takes more than 5 minutes to copy and paste a very simple cell!

    This file works completely normal on a windows excel of course.

    Since so  many people are having the same problem, it seems obvious that Microsoft has to fix this problem!!!!

    Same here, applied latest update but still does not solve the issue.  I'm seriously thinking of switching platforms as excel performance is not good enough.

    Dadavery - an update to Office has been released since this issue was first reported. Please update to Excel 14.2.1 as shown in the Excel menu > About Excel. To get the update use Excel Help menu and choose Check for Updates.

    After installing the updates and restarting your Mac, please try again and reply so that we know whether or not the problem was fixed by this update.

    Jim - 14.2.1 update DOES NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. Facing this issue - for 34,000 rows odd XL file - when filters are applied - I might as well pack for the day too -

    It's painstakingly painful to work with !! The suggestions provided by the MS Experts (font cache rebuilt, deletion of preferences, new user a/c's ...etc.. are not working !! )

    [Client environment: Macbook Air 13" (mid 2011), 4GB RAM, 1.8 GHz Intel core i7, OSX Lion 10.7.3, office:mac 2011 14.2.1]

    Please fix it MS !!
