scrolling speed excel with filters

Scrolling is terribly slow if I have filters active.

I have a 40,000 row sheet, and it scrolls normally when no filters are active.

If i have a filter that excludes most of the items except for 100 or so, the scrolling is unbearable. It's like its scrolling through the hidden rows or something to that effect.

I have updated to the latest office patch and i have a 2010 core i7 MBP with an SSD and 8GB of ram running Lion.

This is basic basic stuff, it's incomprehensible that this would be an issue.

    I have sent them a sample sheet with the filtering issue and they have confirmed that they can replicate it. Here's hoping it goes to the dev team for a patch.

    Did you get any joy from Microsoft on this? I have the same issue. I am a "standard user" of excel 2011 and it's great apart from this one issue. My sheet has 350 rows and any filtering makes navigating the sheet impossible. Scroll happens several seconds after moving the mouse wheel. When filtering is off it is quick and snappy.

    To give you an idea of how slow it is I will boot up Windows in Parallels and use Office 2010 as it works as it should speed wise rather than use Excel for MAC. I think this is a bit of a shame - it's certainly a pain.

    Elsewhere on the web I have seen references to removing duplicate fonts as a remedy but that didn't work for me.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks for you quick reply. I created a fresh account, copied the file into the users home folder, logged out and logged in as the test user.

    The scrolling issue is still there, i'll see if i can create a sample document that exhibits this behaviour (the actual document has data that cannot be published).

    Is the file accessed from the network share or is it saved locally?

    If it is saved on a network, ensure to save the file locally and then check if it does the same.

    If it fails, create a new user account for Mac and then open the same file in there, check if the issue still occurs.
