How do you limit the header and footer to only the first page of a document?

I ant the header and footer to only appear on the first page.

Now it appears on every page OR on every odd page.

You need to enable "Different first page" and put the header and footer content only in the First Page Header and First Page Footer. If you see the header/footer on every page, then you are putting it in the primary Header/Footer. If you're seeing it only on odd pages, then you have enabled "Different odd and even" which makes the primary header/footer the Odd Page Header/Footer.

My first thought would be IF you have multiple section breaks, you have to UNLINK the Headers and Footers from the previous sections.

    I, for one, have no idea whatsoever where to locate "Different first page" so that I can enable it.

    For pictures, go to the appropriate article and search for "different first page."
