How do I change the color of Strikethrough without changing the color of the text?

Hello,

I have Word 2007. I want to achieve red Strikethrough upon normal black text.

I would be grateful to know how to do this, or if, as I suspect, it is not possible, then I would also be interested to know why Microsoft has not provided this quite obviously needed function.

Crossing something out electronically is a nonsense; period. That the facility is even made available is a questionable use of resources. If you really want to strikethrough in a colour other than the text colour, you must use fields (see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/Overbar.htm) to overlay your text with struckthrough spaces, and format the spaces in whatever colour you want.

    I suspect that Tony has not been in a situation where it was necessary to make clear what parts of a document (organization bylaws, for example) have been changed. There's no question that the formatting you can apply using Track Changes can be helpful, necessary, or even legally required. Unfortunately, even if it is helpful, necessary, or legally required, Word does not (as of Word 2016) provide a built-in way to use a different color strikethrough.

    I have with multiple organisations where there was such a requirement, though, and no-one ever suggested that the strike-though line should be in a different colour from the struck-out text. Indeed, for printed manuals and the like (which is one situation where struck-out text was used to show deletions), such a requirement would have dramatically increased printing costs. Question: Does any word-processor provide a coloured strike-though functionality? Regardless, the Pagewake E-Pleadings Addin referred to by 'B. Nice' seems as if it might do the job.
