Disable or Uninstall Skydrive? Is it possible?

Hi All,

I've read virtually every "solution" to the basic question of how to get rid of Skydrive (from hotmail, from computer, from whatever) and I have not yet found a solution that works.  I've spent a lot of time on the Windows Live Hotmail forums and their staff is useless.  I have never come across someone who has done it.   I have 2 questions:

(1) Has anyone EVER actually disabled/uninstalled Skydrive and, if so, how.

(2) If the above is not possible, how does one bypass Skydrive/Web Apps and simply download/save a MS Word document as we used to -- with a click.  Skydrive is (a) so cumbersome and (b) I DO NOT want my documents saved on the web.

I am already switching to gmail, and will slowly phase out the hotmail account I've had for nearly 20 years, but this will take some time....

I am not a computer wiz, so please, any "solutions" need to be in plain English.

Steve...Good News...I figured out how to stop it opening up automatically in SkyDrive

In your hotmail account go to options.

Select: Active View Settings

Select: Hide Photos and Video Previews.  Then click NO for the question:  Do you want interactive updates from Websites you have accounts for?

It worked...Let me know if it worked for you.

Well as I said before - I use WLM and have a ASkydrive account. When i send a picture I get an option to create a photo album on Skydrive OR NOT. I just choose the "NOT" option and the photo attaches in the normal way.

Or, you could actually DO it the "old" way - create your new email message and attach the picture. Just like any other file...

    I have found a way to send photos by right clicking on them then Send To > Email and not have them go into Skydrive.

    After you right click on the photo and select the size and new message opens up with the thumbnail and info about the photo album.

    Click the Photo, and a new tab opens up on the ribbon >  FORMAT >  Select Format and then select the Paper Clip in Album Styles. Squares - Display up to 41 Photo Thumbnails is selected by default.

    After you select the paper clip click on Send and the receipent will receive the attachment without skydrive.

    <sigh>

    No Rupert Murdoch is NOT "involved" in Skydrive unless he is an MS shareholder.

    No-one has to "sign up" to anything to see your pictures - just set the album to be visible by anyone and send people the link.

    What do you mean by "escape" Skydrive? No-one is forcing you to use it for anything...

    I believe Rupert Murdoch has interests in Skydrive. Is this true?

     If so, I'm not happy being connected. When I've used it 

     I have not heard back from from my contacts.

     Do they have to join up to view my pics?

     Do I need to open  a new email adress to escape skydrive?
