how to uninstall OneNote

The answer IS a resounding flat BIG NO! Big M's agenda’s is not to make it simple anymore. They start from scratch every time when designing a new version of Windows and the general public is a crying fool to accept it as it comes out or let alone even buy it! What was good, in the past is NO longer supported like Windows XP or have any good part of the newer version of Windows 8. To get anything decent, is to keep the old version and include what else that works with it and also keep the installer CDs, or DVDs so if your PC or notebook crashes for no reason, You can get a new clean install of Windows. If it was that simple we all go back to ANSI BASIC, as then WE the people have that control as so WE can do exactly what we want with our PC without the fear of piracy or to have to spill your beans to register it...  Just because Windows XP is not supported, does not mean you toss it out with the rubbish as Big M wants you to believe as by NOT supporting it anymore. In a way, your ignorance or lack thereof, You can fix the problem by deleting out Onenote from your version of MS OFFICE 2007, 2010, or 2013, and not use it at all. Notepad can write your NOTES or memos very easily but you cannot format the text as fonts or colors… If you do, you can use Wordpad, as both are part of Windows from 98, to 7. Notepad is for .txt files anyway and becomes more useful in a lot of ways. Word Pad is found in:

“C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\Wordpad.exe”.

You can also find it on the Start Menu. And to me, since a lot of you are now finding it out, Big M is not going to do anything about Onenote, as so, WHO is twisting your arm to USE IT?

If you all know a few tricks of your own, like I have, you can make what you have work for you instead of against you. In my case, Windows XP I have to use, because of my expensive hardware and neither HP nor Microsoft is not designing new drivers for it. Part of the problem is a lack of PC backups, I just do not MEAN software, I mean in the number of PCs and in the number of internal hard drives and partitions. BECAUSE, it is not putting all of your eggs in one single basket. IF you lose a critical DLL, Windows wont start. With a boot CD or DVD, that can be restored without reregistering it because what else is intact.

What I have, I do have more than three PCs fully loaded with Windows 7 as even my puny Gateway Solo 5150 notebook is my testament from once I got it to what it is now. It had a half baked version of Windows 98 as deaf mute lame duck… No sound, no USB ports working, the CD ROM  drive also was not working and a dead irreplaceable battery… It was given to me by my brother on my birthday in 2010. I am surely NOT going to toss THAT out with all of my valued knowledge that a few hundred buck wont fix! I did have to pay $114.00 to find what was wrong with it, but all that did was to get the video GMA drivers working and the CD ROM drive working, and a hundred dollars more for Windows XP Pro, and $85.00 more to get a new internal HDD from a 6 GB to 80 GB. Once I got it all booted up I had the drivers also for its Wireless express card, (I no longer use because I am wired IN), and got my sound through the notebook speakers and got my two USB port as 1.1 speed -???- and I can go on the Internet with a USB to Ethernet RJ45 connection instead. Also I have Microsoft’s Security Essentials protecting it… It is no lame duck any more because I also added a 256 MB memory card as with 64 MB that was in it to get 160 MB of internal memory (HALF of what is installed). Most of you do not care what Big M is doing to your PC behind your back. IF you try to install Windows XP after June 5 of this year they also download a program as Windows Genuine Advantage. In which case is a Virus and has been deactivated… I get no more notifications about it.

How about this one? Instead of a recovery partition in which case is also useless and if use it you get hacked by it! That is also foolish thing to do. The software is obsolete as soon as you activate windows, I rather USE the BOOT CD or DVD to recover from it, it is a hell of a lot quicker! For reference, it has to be on a separate hard disk drive about 20 GB or so. That is easy enough to do as to copy it onto instead of 3 or 4 DVDs. Do it by Windows own copy-paste procedure. Nothing fancy. The true backup of the C partition is to Clone the drive intact and delete out the recovery partition afterwards. THIS gets around of reactivating Windows or go on line to reregister it. Do this every six months. If something goes wrong, use the new clone drive… THAT is a big HA-HA to Big M! You are back in business as you restart Windows… As I have done this many times even with Windows 7. Now one of my notebook PC has a 120 GB SSD and its entire partition is C minus 100 MB for the system partition. Where do I store my Data, my documents, pictures, videos and my installer programs? Surely not on drive letter C on any of my NINE PCs, that is an accident waiting to happen. Externally and on a wired network server, all wired together! HA-AH to any hacker… The trick only ONE PC is used or ON at a time, the rest are backups. That is the way I build a PC as a system, and I do minimal sharing. I that process, I do not care if you can or cannot fix Onenote or scream about it, it is your fault in using it. And reread my past comments about it. It is Virus put there on purpose by Big M!

By the way, If you are smart enough, you can get MS OFFICE 2000 Pro to work with Windows 7 with its search assistant, it is not impossible!!! And have the other four parts left out by OFFICE 20xx Student!! Even to receive and send your own email

I just want to print 2 pictures at 10pm....and I hate running ONE NOTE - this is carp BIG M. I never heard of one note on windows 8 ...i have to do a  search for my word 2013...that i paid for...I like my MAC for design....this new windows machine is not simple.

Maybe you like what Microsoft throws at you as you call it as a program, and use it, as I do have the right to call it as I see it. AS any program that spreads its empty files everywhere as that eats up valuable drive space not only on drive letter C, but also on every partition from A to Z and beyond inside of every folder, has NO business in doing so; is quote: "called a Virius" end quote! AS in the cluster size of 4 KB per file, (4096 bytes), it will also slows your access time down in accessing what you do critically want right away instead waiting for a minute or so, and THEN you wonder WHY your PC is running so slow... in the same way when you label any folder as to music, pictures or video content, Windows waits to classify the entire folder as that type of content when you want last week sales report your boss asked you to get yesterday. AH-HA to you if you do! In MY BOOK, I cannot waste time or valuable drive space just by having one HDD in any laptop, (notebook) or desktop PC or just having one backup as a plan even when Windows is prone to crash periodically. ONE PC with one Hard Disk Drive IS really asking for it by "Pacing all of your eggs (data files and folders) in one Partition as a basket"! Also you need more than ONE PC as to help recover it, as not on the same PC you always working with, Also to ME, eight PCs is not even enough with 180 Partitions plus, because as a user your data is just as important as you are. PCs, hardware and the software come and go like Microsoft is now NOT supporting Windows XP, leaves a lot of you up a creek without a paddle with inferior updates with Windows 8 that cannot do what Windows XP and 7 can do or have, is to me a poor thought in keeping up to date and instead of adding it to each other as MORE, because I look at it as a programmer’s point of view and a troubleshooter. That means I do my own tech work, in which case I have more than the "Book Learning” to do it as! I have forty-six years in electronics also to help me as also to rebuild ANY PC from what now come out from the factory as a ”Bare Bones” PC to a real PC I can really use. To me a PC is a learning tool, not to play games or do office work with but to figure thing out what DOES WORK what software and what Hardware works together as one big giant in-house network! What you do as ONE, I do fifty-two times more. And I get it all done quickly as you do ONE!

By the way, As even Windows 8 has it. A lot of it is on purposely missing, hence, I call it a ”DUD”! Maybe if Microsoft merged all versions of Windows from ’98, 2000. XP, Vista, and 7; they would have a better version than I have and then call it Windows 8. until then, avoire! (Good BYE in French)!

You uninstall it the same way you do any other part of Office. Go to Control Panel --> Programs, select Office, click the change link. Then go through the change screens and tell it to remove OneNote.

What don't you like about it? I have demo-ed and provided training on it since O2003. You are honestly one of the very few I have ever heard of who tried it and disliked it....
