I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

I don’t how to program the xml. Can anyone with knowledge help me to find out the error?
It looks like Tony has the document repaired so I'll just add that, based on the document you uploaded, the only suggestion I have for you to prevent this in the short term would be to group the textboxes.
Aside from that, you can keep checking my blog post (http://blogs.technet.com/b/wordonenotesupport/archive/2011/03/24/error-when-opening-a-word-2007-or-2010-document.aspx) about this issue and hopefully we will have something better long term to provide regarding this issue.

There isn't much you can do to avoid it, unfortunately, but I think I have fixed the document. If it breaks again, come back!

Hi Brandy or Tony (or any other xml pro here)
I'm a student working on a paper for school. Using a lot of math-equations I guess something went wrong because now I have the same error everybody has here.

I tried about everything I found on the internet (converting to word 2003, open and repair, open online, convert to pdf, changing xml myself,..) to fix it. But nothing worked so far :(

Is there some sort of tip on avoiding this? My doc isn't that big at the moment (just those math equations are very time-consuming to type). I'm horrified this could happen to my final thesis! Please advice!
Should I always save 2 copies? Or wont do this any good?
