I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I looked at the document.xml file, and it looks like there is a problem with the oMath tag. I tried a few things, but I don't know XML so nothing worked. Could someone look at my file. It is a lab report, and it is due soon. It is in the link. Thanks in advance.
There are two problems with that document. Both related to equation issues though the first one is a new one. It looks like the beginning of an equation is gone (or an equation was closed twice). I fixed them, but the content might be wrong, so check them.
The first error is just above "The phenomenon that causes turbulent flow to be more difficult to model is the development of random".
The second error is above "Where gc is the acceleration due to gravity".

I too am having the same problem. Unfortunately I do not know any XML, so if anyone would be kind enough to take a look at this file I'd be very grateful. It's got a lot of mathematical notation in it so I guess that's contributed/caused the problem?

If you're still watching here, can I ask how you created this document - what version of Windows, for example, and any other detail. I ask because I can't create anything like it by pulling apart your document and trying to put it back together.
For me, Word 2010 on Windows 7 renames the images as tiff (from tif) and compresses them and creates a document containing a single 'drawing' construct that can be understood by both Word 2007 and 2010 without needing to have different constructs for each, whereas you have an incomplete either/or (with the 2007 construct missing).
