I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Sorry to piggy-back---my son saved his only copy of a 9th grade research paper to a thumb drive to print at school, but now the file's corrupted, similar to all the above, it seems. I get the following message:
The name in the end of the tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag. Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 30078.
I'm hopeful that this takes a few minutes to fix as was often the case before me---I am pretty sure it's due to carelessness with thumb drive, but I thought I would give this forum a shot and see if I can get my evening back... or if I'll be helping him reconstruct his research paper. Any help at all is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for trying to help!

The archive was corrupted, so part of the document is lost beyond recovery. I could retrieve the first 3 pages. Anything after that was too scrambled. But if I take file sizes into account, that should be 75-80% of the document.
