I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Hi I also have this problem aswell!! I've been trying to open this file for a week before I stumbled onto this forum. So if anyone out there is feeling generous could they please try and open this file.
Error message reads:
"The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag.

The assignment took me about 10 hours total and it is due tomorrow and I have 3 other assignments due in the next couple of days so if you could fix this for me you would be a life saver. (I'm a junior chemical engineer at Virginia Tech.)

UPDATE: I've tried Microsoft's Open and Repair, manually balancing all the m:oMath tags (attempted recovery resulted in just a "Microsoft Office cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid." error), as well as downloading Stellar Pheonix Word recovery (doesn't support Word 2010), so you are my last hope unless I am going to spend another 10 hours redoing all 21 problems. PLEASE help!
Just balancing out oMath elements isn't enough. Basically you have to move an </m:oMath> tag (and some previous content every once in a while) up in your document.

The error occured around "Problem 2.54". You might want to check the image you have there. It seems some content is misplaced.
