I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Thinking about it, if your file is that big it must contain a lot of pictures I have no interest in - all I want to see (certainly to begin with) is the document.xml part.
Rename the document to something.zip, then you will be able to extract word\document.xml which should be significantly samller and e-mailable and/or postable in various places. I'm pretty sure you will be able to extract it because my AddIn would have given a different message if that were not possible.

Hotfile (http://www.hotfile.com/) seems to accept files up to 400MB according to their frontpage. Never tried it with such big files though.
I'm not sure what can be done with a file that size - do free online accounts accept them? I can't do any more tonight but if there's nothing else, I may be able to organise somewhere to put it. Can you use an FTP client if I set up an account - I'm not sure how to do it but I can learn?

You can probably upload it to some kind of file sharing site but you might have to split the document into multiple archives (winrar is one tool which can do that) because 387MB is often over what the maximum allowed file size is on those sites. Once done, post the links here like others did.
But how do you end up with a 387MB large Word file? As a general rule of thumb, if your Word document is nearing 100MB, you are often doing something wrong like pasting in 1000 by 500 pixel pictures where you only need 100 by 50 ones.
