I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Hi I am haveing a very similar problem. When I open this file I get an error saying it cvon not open the file because it is corrupt. Later it says "The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag."

I have looked on this forum and it seems like someone may be able to help me. Please, if anyone can fix this file I would be extremly relieved. This is a 12 - Page paper that became corrupted as I went to print it. I really do not want to rewrite it if I dont have to.

The file is seriously damaged. There were errors in the document, the thumbnail, and the styles file (which was completely lost).
I replaced the styles file with a generic one (so you might want to check your formatting), removed references to the thumbnail version, and recovered as much as possible of your document. The result can be downloaded from:http://www.4shared.com/file/Z8qLq0-9/anthrofinaldraft_recovered.html
It's 6 pages, but it looks like there is a part of the text which is repeated a couple of times.
