I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need

The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag

Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760

I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

You're welcome Catherine.

Going forward if you or anyone else comes across this issue again, we have a FixIt solution created that should address this problem.  You can go to the following KB article and it should give you the details about how you can correct these documents.

Hi, can you help me with a document? I have the same problem like those other guys with the end tag problem. This is a link to my broken file http://www.4shared.com/file/2Pz5VV41/fizica.html . Hope you can fix it soon cause i need it tomorrow . Thanks

    See http://www.4shared.com/file/Cpw53P4x/fizica_repaired.html

The problem was half an equation stored incorrectly. The problem was/is located on page 3. There is an empty box there now which you will need to fix.

Thanks, that enables me to open my file!

This means I haven't lost anything, but the bad news is that if I try to save any new changes (or even no changes at all), the error is reproduced when the file is re-opened.

    Any suggestions?

If I were you, I would check if the problems are related to the 'fixed' equations be removing them. If you can work on your document after that, I would then try to reenter them (not through copy/paste).
