I get the following message when i try to open a word document that i desperately need
The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag
Location: Part: word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 96760
I know how to "unzip" the docx files and get to the main document.xml file, but i know nothing about xml programming. Any suggestions? i got an xml editor and found that there are 6 mismatch errors, but i don't know how to fix them. I also don't know how to rezip al the files back into a docx format. I would love any help. Thanks.

Thanks Yves, I would have been screwed at work if it werent for you. And youre right, Microsoft needs to do something about this, everybody here at work depends on word to handle our documents. If I would have lost a more crucial document such as a design specification, there would have been some serious problems. Its Microsoft's responsibility to do something about it, you shouldnt have to be fixing people's files on a MICROSOFT forum. This forum topic alone has been going on SINCE JUNE, why hasnt anyone noticed??

The only thing we can hope for is that this thread grows enough so someone at Microsoft will notice that something is wrong. But up till now, Microsoft Support has been extremely silent in this thread.

The error was on p.5 around the "chapter 3" part. You might want to verify that part carefully.
