Do you mean within a cell with text wrapping turned on? You can only change the font size, you have no direct control over line spacing within a cell.

If you mean between cells, you can change the row height, of course.

    I haven't found a way to directly alter line spacing in Excel, but here are a couple of suggestions.

    If you have this problem:

    _______________

       EMPLOYEE

            NAME           

    Right click on your cell and choose "format cell".  On the "Number" tab, set the category to text. On the "alignment" tab, set the "Horizontal" to general, and the "Vertical" to top.

    Finally (and most important). Change the font. The Calibri font in Excel 2010 inherently has more space between lines than other fonts (plus it looks like the font a 6 year old would choose!). Arial probably looks the most professional on spreadsheets, but play around with other fonts until you find what you're looking for.

    Office comes bundles with Word.................use that application for your word processing and leave Excel to the number-crunching.

    I need to change the line spacing within a cell all the time.

    Since number crunching in a spread sheet is useless if the cells aren't labeled, some degree of word processing is necessary.

    Changing line spacing is sometimes desirable in order to keep the cell and row spacing format even at the same time as fitting a label for a line in its cell without changing the font too much.

    Yes.  With text wrap on and having multiple lines, how do I adjust the spacing between lines.

    You are replying to a post by Hans who states in the post that you have no direct control over the spacing within a cell.

    That feature has not changed since April 16, 2011
