I started encountering this problem recently. I didn't make any changes that should have prompted this newfound issue. When I click on an unread email (I sort my emails by date, the newest at the top), Outlook will frequently automatically scroll down in my Inbox to older emails (usually to yesterday's or last week's emails). It also happens when I click on an older email after reading a new email. It doesn't do this every time, but I would say it does it more times than not. I searched to see if anyone else had encountered this problem and found a couple of posts. I followed Microsoft's instructions (disabling add-ins, repairing the application, restarting, updating, etc.), and nothing has fixed this issue. This is a super annoying glitch, and I'm tired of constantly scrolling back up in my inbox every time I go through my newer emails.
If it helps or matters, I use Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, Version 2411, Build 16.0.18227.20082. I do not like the new Outlook, so I am using the classic version on my desktop (not web-based). My computer is a Lenovo ThinkPad with Windows 11 Pro, 24H2 version.

I found that having the Grammarly Desktop app seems to be one of the causes, uninstalling it resolves the issue!
Same situation here.
There was a setting or message about linking Outlook to my Linkedin account (except I do not have one).
The setting was turned off (to no avail) although I have deleted all the trash lest there was a message from Outlook in there.....
Perhaps MS are trying to get too 'clever' with all these diofferent functions?
The issue has not reocurred since but I'm not holding my breath......

Unfortunately, this isn't a fix for me as I do not have a LinkedIn. My outlook jumps to random emails in my inbox, doesn't seem to be certain ones. I also don't have Grammarly so that's not my issue either. I truly think it's just a bug that Microsoft needs to fix because it didn't start doing this to me until my Office updates happened a week or so ago.
Hi everyone. Since Microsoft seemingly can't be bothered to look into this problem. I did my own troubleshooting. I already tried all the recommended fixes, and like all of you, none have worked. As for the Grammarly fix, I don't have it installed on any of my computers. I finally found what is causing the problem at my end. It's a LinkedIn email received on January 11. I deleted the LinkedIn emails from 1/11/2025 on all of my office computers and the problem has gone away on all of them. So for all of you who still have this problem, check your inbox for a LinkedIn email from January 11 and delete it. Hopefully that will work for you too.
