For me this problem with the new Microsoft Outlook began on Feb 5, 2025. And at that time, I reached a live body at Microsoft Support who used remote access to my computer to diagnose the problem. After seeing what was happening on my computer, he then put me on hold to talk to his supervisor and came back a few minutes later and said a new Outlook update had broken the interface with Spectrum email and its subsidiary email addresses like my @charter.net address and to wait for a Microsoft update to fix the problem. He said this was a known issue on the Microsoft side.

I have since moved to another desktop email client that works perfectly with my @charter.net email addresses. But seeing that this problem still exists over a month later, I'm guessing there is now finger pointing going on between Microsoft and Spectrum --> "No, you fix it. No, you fix it." And Microsoft being bigger than Spectrum, I'm guessing Spectrum will eventually have to be the one to fix the problem on their end. Or, knowing this is a unique problem with the new Outlook, Spectrum may never make a change to accommodate the new Outlook.

I wasn't getting Spectrum emails after February 2nd after the New Outlook update. It's an issue with new outlook; I downloaded Spectrum emails with Classic Outlook, and NOT spectrum-email works with Outlook classic.

I have had the same problem but did not notice it because I also use an alternate email address (not Charter) that was receiving emails. March 5, 2024, was when I noticed the broken connection with the same error message that you have. Any fix? From what I've seen in other posts, the problem is with MicroSoft. I noticed that the iPhone version of Outlook connects fine, but the Windows 11 desktop version does not.

I switched to the new Outlook on my desktop last year and it worked fine (though I didn't really like its interface) until March 3 when I could no longer receive or send. After several days and attempts at fixes, I deleted the account and tried to set it up again in the new Outlook. I received something like a 'password not correct or may need app password' message. My Apple devices continued to receive email fine. Came to this site and learned that the new Outlook appeared to be the issue so found and reloaded the old Outlook and was able to add my Spectrum account (I have an old RoadRunner email addy from TimeWarner days) and everything reloaded fine, so am happy with that!

Please Microsoft - continue to support the classic Outlook version!

Switch outlook (new) email account configuration to use pop tls/995 instead of imap tls/993

OR use outlook (new) > help > go to outlook (classic) button to launch prior email app option that still works for imap tls/993 connections

OR use alternative microsoft store email app options in the interim, e.g. spark
