Hello,

I also had the problem and digged in a bit deeper using sysinternals Process Monitor to see what exactly fails, when the system tries to download the file in the temporary outlook folder. There I figured out that my problem was a somehow missing Attachments folder!

Please press WIN-R and type %userprofile%\appdata\local\microsoft\olk and press Enter.
Then an explorer windows opens. Check if you can see an Attachments folder. If not create one and problem might be solved for you.

This "Fix" also worked for me.

had my profile deleted and logged back in, and now it works.

time will tell if it breaks again...

I had tried every single suggestion on this post to no avail.

other laptops and desktops outlook attachments opened normally. it was isolated to that profile on that laptop. "support" was of no help and cumbersome to use. issue may very well reoccur.

Wyatt - Did you get a fix? I have the same issue for several weeks with the New Outlook App. I do not use the browser version and only use the App-based version. It's up-to-date, etc. Seems like so many are having this issue & the resolutions I saw above I've tried already or they are just trying to get you to change your default Google browser to Microsoft Edge, which... no.

Is it me, or does the new Outlook seem like it was developed by a bunch of developers that don't have practical knowledge or a ton of feedback gathered from various industries/roles such as a small business owner, a sales representative, an accountant, etc... So much functionality that was good & what we were used to seems simply lost for this clunky version.

i cant get anywhere with the Contact support. it simply gives me knowledge base and no actual support.

""Currenly, the Outlook product team is collecting the issues and willing to helo resolve the issue by help checking the customers' enviroment or from the backend.""

i would like some assistance. but cant through the outlook app support.
