Outlook isn't letting me resize an image. Used to click on the pasted image and drag the corner to size. Why make updates that make things more difficult?

UPDATE 09.20.2024

AGAIN, this issue has returned, and the previous work arounds don't work either.

This site is a message board, you need to contact MS directly to get this resolved.

I contacted Support, and they say they can't fix because the issue is on the server, so MS has to fix it.

Go into your Outlook app and select Help >Feedback > Report a Problem.

The problem is: Image sizing handles do not work, and images can no longer be resized when pasted in a message body.

Hoping they get flooded with these reports and the issue is resolved quickly.

SOLUTION 1 (09 20 2024):

Paste image into a MS Word document, where the resizing handles work, size the image then clip & paste it into the message.

SOLUTION 2 (09 20 2024):

I received another work around from Anthony in a post on this board . . .

Clip image >"Save As" onto hard drive> go to Outlook> select Insert>select picture> browse to location image is stored> select image and insert into message> At this point you have 1 chance to size it with the sizing handles, after that the sizing handles no longer work.

ORIGINAL POST 07 24 2024:

Outlook isn't letting me resize an image. Used to click on the pasted image and drag the corner to size.

Outlook for Windows version 1.2024.717.400 (Production)

SOLUTION:

 Now to resize an image

1. Click to the right in a blank area so the image is NOT selected

2. Hold Shift Key down and then hit the Left Arrow Key and the resize handles will appear

I appreciate the enthusiasm, and there are obviously workarounds, however a function that worked before is not working now.

It's unbelieveable! The (bug) issue being the origin of this thread, was eventually recitfied by MSFT and everything has been fine - until now. No way to get up drag-corners to adjust image size, and even the right-click-and-adjust-image-size-25-50-percent-etc. option, has disappeared. Makes me wonder what's going on in the MSFT Outlook developers crib!

Simpler way: uninstall, reinstall... and write a feedback in the hub.

There is no intent to make anything more difficult.. This is a bug, and if it rerepeats, then they to investigate. Not me. :D

    Or use the -devtools solution...

Otherwise, one of the 18 workarounds is: just paste in Word, resize, and paste back in Outlook...

For info, I have the following version (Settings-> General-> About): make sure to update before.

Same issue. Selecting the image does not cause a picture format tab to appear, nor could I find said tab. I had to use the insert image tool to place the image and then it gave me handles to resize, but have not found a way to resize again or otherwise.

I don't believe it but they've either rolled back the change or fixed the bug because it is working correctly now as it was before. Now you can resize your images by dragging the edges as normal.
