Why haven’t I got a response from my account recovery form that i submitted?

Hi I did the account recovery form for my friend as he lost access to his account due to suspicious activity and I filled out two forms but I haven’t gotten any positive or negative response back to me and the only exception was the security code that I got.

It says they will respond within 24 hours but it’s been at least over 30 hours as I filled them out on June 2nd. I know they can’t help with the account but is there any way to contact or speak to them about why it isn’t arriving in my email?

Yep, in the exact same situation. I've been lied to by multiple Microsoft agents from telling me I'll receive a response from a higher up team, to telling me they can get a password reset link sent to me within 48 hours etc.

I've filled out the same form numerous times too. Let me give you a quick backstory.

On the 2nd of November 2024 I forgot my password and had to reset it (I was dead certain I was typing the correct one and still sure to this day). Either way, I filled in the recovery form and was given a password reset link within 24 hours. I reset my password, I gain access to my account, I go to update my security information and Microsoft locks me out for "suspicious activity" straight away..."okay, I'll do the form again" Microsoft then doesn't verify the form despite putting the EXACT same information as I just filled out. "Okay, let me try the form again and try different valid inform incase it won't verify with the same information it just verified"

    To cut a long story short which I'm sure you've heard/been in/are in...I got declined....I got declined....I got declined...again...and again....and again............

Now it's at the point where I'm also not receiving responses good or bad. Microsoft support chat take me round in infinite loops. I obviously know the correct information to put otherwise I wouldn't have gotten verified in the very first place. I literally even put my very VERY first ever password and my most recent passwords yet still nothing.

Is there nothing all of us can do together to make a change? Way too many people have been through this without any resolve and I'm not entirely sure if anyone that's been in our situation has gotten their account back.

They should really allow if you have 2 valid forms of ID to be able to verify (this would be Bank Card and Passport and then a bonus of you doing a video saying there exact chosen phrase to prove you are exactly who you say you are). This way hackers can't do anything even if they did happen to get your information.

Another down side to this, after filling the recovery form, the form itself told me in 30 days they will update my information allowing me to log in. 30 days go by, no response or follow up at all.

You know what I could've done since the 2nd of November till now? I could've walked 10.4% The Great Wall Of China...and more so the guy who's been locked out since the 2nd of June could've walked 39.4% by now. You know how ridiculous that actually is😂

EDIT: I think I've figured out why we aren't receiving emails good or bad after filling out the recovery form. I tried using a temp email and received my disappointing email straight away. So my guess is our contact email has been blocked by Microsoft for too many unsuccessful attempts.

I’m having the same issue. I have filled in about 30 recovery forms and still no response! This is ridiculous, clearly a lot of people are having this issue and Microsoft will do nothing to help. How is this the only way to recover an account and yet when you do fill in the form you get no response.

This is still an ongoing issue for many users.

    This needs to be fixed

    Hello Kepnach64

I'm sorry to hear your news, and since you managed to get one response on the 1st, this shouldn't be your problem.

I understand the frustration of not being able to get a reply after filling out each one to the best of your ability.

It looks like contacting the online support staff for further help is necessary.

Contact our online account support by following the steps below.

    1. Open a site link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "Tell us your problem so we can get you the right help and support.", enter MSA, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Customer Support" below.
    3. In this section, you need to register a personal Microsoft account

    Note: You can only use a personal MSA to register, and the company account cannot display the correct content. If the account cannot be logged in, you can use another account or create a new account to execute;

    1. Select "Other Products" in Products & Services, select "Manage account security" as a category, and click to confirm
    2. You can select "Chat with support experts in web browser" to enter the chat window.

Feel free to let me know if there's any progress.

    Best Wish
