Hi, I'm running the new version of Outlook on Windows 11, and have connected to both my Uni (O365) and Gmail (Microsoft Cloud). O365 works fine, but the Gmail account doesn't sync read status back to gmail. I.e. outlook gets the correct read status from Gmail, and it syncs things like starring/flagging emails back to Gmail. But although I can mark things as read in Outlook, that status never syncs back to Gmail. The same is true on 3 different PCs, so it's not peculiar to one particular computer.
Any ideas?

I have confirmed with the Microsoft team that the new Outlook has sync issues. They will be rolling out a fix, but the ETA is currently unknown. We need to either wait for the update or switch back to the old Outlook in the meantime.
Just an update. As of this morning, it appears that the read status of messages is "sticking" in my new Outlook client. I have made no overt changes (though background updates are always a possibility, as I am a bit obsessive about keeping my systems patched...)
Definitely not my case, Windows 11, Microsoft 365 (enterprise), both up to date as of today.
Still the same issue, the 'new' Outlook and Gmail are not syncing read/unread status.
I am the user who posted the workaround instructions on page 2. That is still the only way to keep my Outlook synched with Gmail. And still an unacceptable way for an enterprise-level email app to work.
Nope — if you look above in the thread, I’m seeing this with the OS X client.
Mozilla Thunderbird. Email, Calendar, Address Book, etc., all appear as tabs, which is very nice.
You need to install two extensions to use it with an Exchange server: Provider for Exchange ActiveSync, and TbSync. And you need to sync your calendar and contacts manually by clicking on a button in lower right corner. It's simpler than the Outlooks, but it works better for me. My only hesitation is that they do not yet have an Android version, so I have to use Outlook on my phone. Mozilla says they are working on an Android version. I also like the fact that Thunderbird is open source.
I am having the same issue. I ended up switching back to the older version of Windows 10 Mail (16005) and provided feedback when prompted. No response yet.
