Starting a couple of days ago, I am unable to send emails to Yahoo accounts from my Outlook email. Here is the error message I receive:

Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, a connection to the remote server was closed abruptly.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that your email system is unable to connecto their email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

For Email Admins
This often indicates the recipient's firewall SMTP fixup setting or other firewall settings are preventing the SMTP protocol negotiation from succeeding.

For more information and tips to fix this issue see this article: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=389361.

I went to the link suggested, and did not understand the instructions. Please assist. Thank you.

When is microsoft going to fix this problem, since we are all having the same issue? It is not reasonable to expect every user to be able to resolve this using the specified instructions.

This solved the issue for me within 5 minutes. I confirmed it by using a test yahoo.com account and 5 minutes after I made the changes emails starting getting through.

First I went to Go Daddy and added the following CNAME information.

Then you have to go to https://security.microsoft.com/authentication?viewid=DKIM. Click on your domain and enable the option shown below.

Once those steps were completed I tested it 5 minutes later and emails were getting through to Yahoo.

    Dear Pam Younghans,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community, we are glad to assist you here.

Please kindly note this is a known issue as Yahoo made an authentication change, requiring email senders to strongly authenticate their emails following well-established best practices such as DMARC, SPF, and DKIM.

Please follow the steps to enable it as below:

Set up SPF identify valid email sources for your Microsoft 365 domain | Microsoft Learn

How to use DKIM for email in your custom domain | Microsoft Learn

Use DMARC to validate email, setup steps | Microsoft Learn

Just FYI, to make things even harder to track Microsoft's own failed email messages are being thrown into my Junk Email folder, so if you don't view the Junk Email folder, you will never know this is happening. Also, the time the message is returned is 24 hours later, so you won't know your message did not go through until 24 hours later, and even then the message letting you know will probably end up in the Junk Email folder.
