I am trying the New Outlook. I cant sort my inbox by typing a letter - am I missing a setting?

I am trying the New Outlook. I used to be able to sort my inbox by column (FROM) and then type in a letter and quickly get to all emails from people starting with that letter. For me that was a quick way to navigate my emails. It does not seem to work like that now. Is there a setting that I am missing or did Microsoft take that out in the new version? I understand that the search bar can be used and filters can be used, but I want the one letter search functionality that I have been using.

2025-04-14T15:35:44+00:00 Yep - I tried the new Outlook for a month now, but the whole inability to maintain selection when sorting by column + cannot jump to the first item in the sorted list by a keystroke - those two missing "features" are driving me nuts.
Switching back to old Outlook. Far better.
