New Outlook vs. Outlook in Microsoft 365

Microsoft wants to maintain only 1 source code for the whole outlook family of apps (mac, windows, mobile and web).

The free outlook for windows is ad-supported

When you sign in with your microsoft 365 account, the outlook for windows app will kill the ads because you are using the paid version.

They are slowly migrating Enterprise customers to this app by 2029.

If you like classic, ignore the try new Outlook switch - or set a reg key to hide it.

The key you need to set is at Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook - if you don't want to edit the registry, there are instructions to set it with opening the registry editor and a .reg file.

This is a significant problem: I have been using New Outlook for months with 2 google email accounts and 1 comcast account. I suddenly stopped getting comcast emails so I removed it with the intention of adding it back as we sometimes have to do. This time, it would not go through. It kept saying that I needed an app password; Google has a way to get an app password, unfortunately no one at Comcast knows what the hell an app password is. They say that by checking a "allow third party connection" box is the solution. Alas, no. That is not enough as mine was already checked. I spent a total of 5 hours between Comcast and Microsoft support only to end up loading all my email accounts back on to Classic Outlook which I hate. None of my email addresses transferred back (ie when you start to type the address it auto fills for you) and now I'm just generally pissed and confused. The Microsoft support guy said the New Outlook should not have been released with all the bugs it has and that it's not trustworthy. I predict my future in which we have no choice but to switch over to New Outlook and I will find that it still requires an app password to add comcast and comcast will still not have a clue what an app password is.

I see that Microsoft To Do is now integrated inside New Outlook, instead of taking you to a separate browser (woo hoo, that's great). I have since encountered 2 problems with this though:

1.) I can no longer search tasks in To Do in New Outlook. Is this really not possible? Any time I do a search now, it takes me straight to my inbox, I don't see a task option in the search dropdown.

2.) When I create new Lists in To Do, they are not showing up as an option in the Task List in New Outlook for me to sort tasks to. I know the list is created because I see it in To Do, but when I try and put a task in it, the list name does not show up as an option in my dropdown.
