Why are my contacts not coming up on the People panel in Outlook - completely blank.

Yes now you mention it I found that too. What also annoys me it keeps sending copies of a random few of my emails to an old business associate of mine who used to be in my contact list with an email address for a mail server that went out of business long ago, and it returns a series of messages to say the email can not be delivered and a lot of Blah. I have his latest correct address but as I moved cities 7 years ago I have not sent him an email since moving. I have searched my computer for this old address and his name came up in an old backup to the web which did not allow me to delete but not the old email address. I wonder if I might still have him in my contact list but of course I can not see it. Before you ask I tried a test email and put his name in the To: box but nothing came up, whereas it does for others I frequently contact. I date this issue starting some time in August straight after a Windows 11 update.

How many contacts? Were you trying to delete all or just one or two? You are limited to deleting up to 50 contacts at a time.

If you aren't seeing them in new outlook, try resetting the app in Windows settings > apps > installed apps - find Outlook (new) and click on advanced options to reset it.

Or wait - there seems to be a sync issue (I deleted contacts in Outlook on the web and the deletions haven't synced to new Outlook yet.)

This is the most helpful solution I have some across. My contacts (people) reappeared when I went to Windows settings > apps > installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced and then clicked on repair. While they reappeared, I was not able to delete any but I could edit them. Progress, but not perfection.

This advice is for the classic version of Outlook 365. I have the New version and there is no File option. I also have the classic version loaded and here the contacts are visible but as from May 2024 it has stopped recording sent emails in the Sent folder. So I sort of hop between the two versions.
