Copy meetings from one calendar to another no longer supported

I'm using Outlook 365 on my Windows 11 PC, and the Outlook android app on my smartphone. On the PC, I have a work calendar, an association calendar, and a private one. The android app only has the private e-mail account and calendar (this is for security reasons). Until very recently, I have been able to copy meetings from the work and association calendars to the private one on my PC, so that they show up in my android Outlook app.

Microsoft has removed this functionality without warning. Outlook blocks copying meetings with “Copying meetings is not supported.” - Microsoft Support.

The workaround (involving editing the regsitry) works, but what is the long term solution?

This unannounced chage is stunningly inept on Microsoft's part, given that their meeting series functionality was already terrible.

If they are trying to make sure competitors win over some business due to awkward and inefficient calendaring functionality, they are doing a good job of that.

Why would you double the work?

If you want to download the reg key to install it I posted a download in this forum thread, Calendar issue - copying event from one calendar to another - Microsoft Community.

Here is the direct link, EnableMeetingCopyInOutlookDesktop. Download EnableMeetingCopy.reg and double click on it to add it to your registry.

I thought it was just me!

Why would Microsoft turn this function off? That's ridiculous!

Like many who have commented before, I receive meeting invites across multiple calendars, but need to consolidate them into one.

Thankfully I was able to update the registry to resolve the issue, but I shouldn't have had to do that in the first place!

Agreed, this is massively frustrating. Outlook is supposed to be a productivity tool. making me enter separately each appointment in different calendars is the oppositie of productive. please bring the drag and drop functionality back. i cannot fathom why it was removed in the first place.
