Cannot import .ics file into Outlook (new) app

Hi,

I am having several problems with my outlook (new) app.

  1. I cannot import .ics files into the app as no calendar is available in the "Upload from file" window. I have verified that Outlook (new) is the default for .ics files.
  2. I cannot sync my Outlook app calendar on my laptop with my Calendar app on my Iphone 10. I get an error message when I try to sync it via Icloud.

PS: I am using a gmail account for my outlook.

Any suggestions?

Best, Finn

    Hi all,

The original question still remained unanswered: how do I import a .ics file into the new Outlook? The solution asks us to use the File menu, but the File menu is not there in the new outlook. Only three tabs home view and help.

Please let us know how to fix this issue in the new outlook. Thanks!

The new outlook is just a piece of c_r_@_p. I have the same problem and the solution I found is to switch to the classic outlook.

I even imported the ics file to my calendar using outlook.com, I see the imported calendar in the classic outlook, but NOT in the new outlook

This worked. I found it just before I saw this and was looking to see if anyone else had shares it. I can confirm this works and yes.. Microsoft, tighten up folks.

It's been a year since these posts, and Microsoft still hasn't restored by ability to use .ics files to add appointments to my calendar. It worked fine before. Opening .ics files worked seamlesslessly to my Outlook calendar. Please fix this. I feel like I need to go back to a paper calendar.

To be clear, the bug is that after opening a downloaded single-event ICS file -- either from the browser, or File Explorer, or the "Browse" button below -- we get a non-functional dialog box with an empty "Select a calendar" dropdown and a disabled "Import" button:

These workarounds are silly. Opening a single-event ICS file should add that even to a default or chosen calendar. This is how it's worked since 1998.

Same issue here, I cannot select a calendar when I open the .ics file with new Outlook, This workaround to send the calendar invitation to my own e-mail address was successful. Thanks for the creative solution! Now MS needs to figure out why I cannot select a calendar when I open the original .ics file
