I am trying to copy and paste from one email to another and outlook will not keep the format. This is the new outlook app so there is no File tab like suggested in every other answer.

    omg I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!!!!

When you copy and then paste, at the bottom of the pasted material there is a very tiny box. Hover over that and choose the left (1st of 3) icon. It's a clipboard icon and it says (Ctrl).

My coworker showed me this and IT WORKED!!

Thanks David, you just helped me save so much time.

Microsoft should make the box more noticeable.

Can confirm that this works. I hate it, but this works. You have to click in the tiny box at the end of your pasted text and select the left-most clipboard button. If you misclick, you have to Ctrl+Z and then Ctrl+V again to retry.

I too am experiencing the same issues with copy and pasting formatting. It appears @microsoft has not replied since the origin of this thread. Can we get an update from Microsoft that this is a known issue and in development or we are all doing something wrong :)

    Answer!

This was so frustrating but I found the answer.

    1. On the top right corner, click the Gear Setting Icon.
    2. On the left, click Mail, then Compose and Reply.
    3. Make sure "Cut, copy and paste" is set to "Keep source formatting".

Close and it works like you expected.
