Why is Microsoft trying to force me to use outlook? The app is just awful and I will not use it. I have had a hotmail account since 2000 and use mail tab on windows. Now it keeps wanting to switch me to the piece of **** outlook. Forcing this on people is ****. I will stop using microsoft email completely if this is the way it will be. Why are you doing this to people. Searching the web shows that this is really a bad move from Microsoft and is a ploy to make more money from ads. If this is the case,<removed>

I doubt it's even legal what they're doing, forcefully having the Outlook app install on my system and replace the previous mail app, without my consent, MULTIPLE TIMES.
Maybe someone will entertain the idea of a class action lawsuit.
I am now in a legal process, and after changing to the new outlook, after being badgered for weeks, I find that two very important emails which I sent two weeks ago do not appear in my sent file, along with everything else before them will you compensate me if I lose the case?
To say that this new app is s*** is to pay it a compliment.
I hate this. I had enough tonight. Good riddance MS Mail. Uninstalling this nagging garbage.
And for the record, because of your policies on this, i will NEVER purchase office or outlook.

Hello Steven C Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today. First, just so there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We're users helping other users. We do not work for Microsoft and have no input on Microsoft's policies, procedures, or design decisions. That said, just to clarify something, no one is trying to force you into using any paid version of Outlook. The "new Outlook" is the intended replacement of the Windows 10 / 11 Mail, People, Calendar apps. It is essentially "Outlook on the web" in an app framework with the added functionality of being able to add external IMAP accounts. At some point, the "new Outlook" will completely replace the Windows Mail app but both are free. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, we're here to help you further if needed.
I'm generally game to new software and trying it out, but the emails from the old Outlook are not, I repeat not, going to the new, and every time I go to the far superior previous version, it forces me to go to the older version. I like Microsoft, but I hate things being forced upon me.
I think they are still forcing since i was switch back to outlook automatically twice a month and some of the mails don't appear unless i switch to outlook.
