error message "Your message wasn't delivered. Despite repeated attempts to deliver your message, a connection to the remote server was closed abruptly.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that your email system is unable to connecto their email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

For Email Admins
This often indicates the recipient's firewall SMTP fixup setting or other firewall settings are preventing the SMTP protocol negotiation from succeeding.

For Yahoo: returned '550 5.4.318 Message expired, connection reset (SuspiciousRemoteServerError)(450 4.4.318 Connection was closed abruptly (SuspiciousRemoteServerError))'
3/8/2024 8:44:42 PM - Server at mx-eu.mail.am0.yahoodns.net (188.125.72.73) returned '450 4.4.318 Connection was closed abruptly (SuspiciousRemoteServerError)'

For sky: returned '550 5.4.300 Message expired -> 421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to SocketError'
3/8/2024 8:39:33 PM - Server at 188.125.72.73 (188.125.72.73) returned '421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to SocketError'

I cannot ask all my contacts that have yahoo or sky accounts to change their firewall settings. There seems to be a problem with Microsoft!

I sympathise with you there as I am in the same boat. However, I've followed the instructions just now and it is quite easy to do provided you follow the instructions. I'm not an IT person myself either but it seemed pretty logical. It just needs a closed door, a quiet room and working through it methodically.

    Hopefully this will help

Same error message with emails sent to Verizon or Yahoo, but Gmail and other accounts are receiving fine. Please fix this as I am in the middle of an important work project and must be able to reach my contacts.

I have a hotmail.ca e-mail address and appear to be having a similar problem that is only affecting e-mails that I send to Rogers.com recipients (5 so far). My last successful e-mail was sent them @ 7:46pm on Wednesday and my first undelivered e-mail was @4:27pm on Thursday. I successfully sent the same e-mail simultaneously to 49 other recipients - all of whome do not have Rogers.com domains. I have run several test e-mails to one affected rogers.com recipient and been communicating with them by phone and can confirm they are not receiving my e-mails but I have no problem receiving their e-mails. We have both tried contacting Rogers.com tech support who keeps telling us to contact Microsoft/Hotmail.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

This issue seems to have been going on since January 2024 looking at other similar questions on Microsoft community. I am using outlook email via GoDaddy and they cannot provide a solution other than using MailChimp as an alternative. Surely microsoft should be able to sort this? Help!
