Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
I have the same issue and it is frustrating to say the least.

Before I switched to new outlook, I was able to double click on attachments and they would open to their specific apps. Ex. If it was a PDF it would open with Acrobat; If it was a word doc, it would open with word. Now I have to click the download button and it default saves to my downloads folder instead of being put where I want it in the beginning. I also can't drag attachments from an email to the specific folder I want to save it to on my desktop. I have to download and then move it from my downloads folder.
I know it's probably just a new process I'll have to get used to, but hey maybe someone knows a hack!
Thank you in advance :)

I have just deleted the New Outlook because of this reason. Even when I download a pdf and click to open, it opens iin a microsoft reader rather than Adobe which is the default reader.
PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUEEEE. I need to be able to drag and drop files as well as double click and open in Acrobat.
At this point, I'm pretty sure Microsoft hasn't responded because they did an update to the community portal which forces them to download each message before they can read it, therefore, they are backlogged because it takes them so damn long to get through all of them.
Same issue. Navigating becomes a pain. Please fix this major feature.
