About every 2- 3weeks, the Mail app continues to automatically switch me to Outlook, without asking me. And I have to manually switch back to Mail.
I run an HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 11.
I'm aware that Mail will eventually be discontinued, however, that's not for another year. I plan to use Mail for the next year, since Outlook currently is very difficult for me to use. However, Mail continually tries to suggest I switch, and then forces me to switch. This has happened over and over again for the last few months.
What can I do to disable Mail from switching me to Outlook?

The new outlook redirect is awful, completely bloated with adds. I had a quiet email until I moved to outlook and just completely overwhelmed with adds and spam. Horrific experience.
No, this does not help. As usual, you fail to read the original message, which in this case states, that the original poster CONTINUES to get switched to the new app every now and then. Over and over again. And you suggest switching back just once... just to get switched by the system later again. You have completely missed the point.
What we all want to know is how to stop the continuing behavior of switching to the new Outlook without user's permission.
Do you understand now? We want our chosen app to stay forever our default app. Which windows doesn't allow now by keeping switching us to new Outlook. Get it?
this is absolutely spot on. It's a total joke how they're trying to take away a nice clean simple email program and replace it with some overloaded pile of **** that contains ads at the VERY TOP OF MY EMAIL LIST!! to obviously try to get you to inadvertently click on them. But hey you can pay a monthly fee to get rid of the ads! Shame on you microsoft this is just another pathetic money grab. Why wouldnt you just let us keep our simple mail app we liked. its just like how they completely shove onedrive down your throat and then try to start charging you for storage once the measly 5 gigs of data is filled up. Never thought I'd say this, almost makes me want to throw up saying it, but I almost want to switch to apple.
I did reset back to old Outlook, but it keeps switching back to new outlook every time I open my email application.
Uninstall ''Outlook'' from the APPS and Features Menu in the settings. You'll get prompted that they will download it but you just close that window, and should be fine. It shouldn't switch you over. Also when you get a windows update look to see if the update re-installed Outlook and do it again!.
