Hello people.

At the moment im very frustrated. I cant do anything on my email. I expect important mail today. And im greeted by this: Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later.

The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again.

Like what?!? How can there be too many repeated authentication attempts? Years ago i discovered this problem with my outlook that almost every hour 100ths of login attemps are being made on my email. out of china, India and other nations. Using VPNs and stuff. I then asked for help. And was told that i shouldnt worry about those. Those are failed attempts. They have no consequences on your account. Well that was a lie.... Apperently.

I have a strong password. And 2FA on my mobile phone. More i cant do. This problem is just incredibly frustrating. I would have been using another email long ago. if this one wasnt connected to so many important things and friends and family.

I get over a 100 spam emails a day 20 of them goes past my spam filter. I get emails from myself demanding bitcoin. When i respond to them(to tell them to 'take a walk'). The response goes to my own email. How can that be?!? I have checked everything. Secured everything. Last week. I had this problem that on my PC start screen everything was suddenly in chinese!

Considering everything. My conclusion has to be that microsofts servers are compromised. Otherwise all these things shouldnt happen. Its frustrating. Especially when i try to speak to a person. And i finally found a phone number. The response i get is Sorry we do everything online now. So you dont have to wait(last part is a lie).

Im so frustrated with microsoft. But they obviously dont care. They have a monopoly. They can ignore their customers. Or can be loose with their data.

Now the rant is over. Now for my questionHow can i safely access my email again? Do i have to wait? For how long? I cant wait. As i expect a important email today.

Thanks in advance for any help. * Changed to a question

It worked for me too - I was briefly able to open my email only to have the same message everyone else was getting pop up: "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later. The Microsoft account login server has detected too many repeated authentication attempts. Please wait a moment and try again" and then I was booted out of my email.

Following what you and others posted, I hit the "Reply" button, and it sent me to a regular log in where I was able to log into my email using my log in and password. WHEW! Business emails are important every day but today in particular I'm needing to access them.

I cannot believe it, but this actually fixed it for me to...

What a ridiculous workaround, I can't even begin to understand why logging into microsoft answers somehow fixed my email from displaying the error message in the OP...

Thanks to all, this fix works to my delight after 2 days of this box coming up preventing me using my Outlook.

I just clicked on 'reply to this message' (you can do this on any message at all in your inbox). Then signed out and back in again. And no more problems. Outlook had been sluggish and slow to load for about a week in the run up to this error message appearing. Now it is fast to load again. Really grateful someone figured this odd 'fix' out for us!
