I was also getting this error.

Attempted to use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Tool, and was exited on a screen that said it didn't support this type of account.

Account is current and up to date

Additional info: After you close the screen shown in Anand's original post, you get this.

Jinky Fix - Opened outlook from the Start Menu as Administrator (Right click on application and choose Run as Administartor), application opened and ran perfectly. Note: There were a couple more clicks after choosing to run as administrator... I don't remember what they were, but the are common sense answers.

It Works - Closed application and re-opened it from my pinned shortcut and application runs perfectly. Fixed for now!

    Jay

I had the same issue, but I managed to fix it.

On Outlook application, go to File > Office Account, check whether your affected email address is signed in under Account (on the left side).

If it is not, then try click Switch account and check whether your affected email address account is there.

Most likely it is not, just add and sign in and it should be fixed.

You can switch back to your original account after you added the affected email address account.

Worked for me also! Had to close out of Outlook and open again afterwards. Thanks!

So ANNOYING. Why can't Microsoft get it's own products working properly. I cannot add my MICROSOFT office 365 outlook account added to my MICROSOFT outlook app. Error codes are useless, support is non existent. I have deleted email accounts, outlook profiles, .tmp and .xml files, applications to no avail. The only thing that works is the charges on my credit card.

    Get it together!

Not fixed for me. Also removing the account and re-adding it doesn't change anything. Error 2400 remains
