New company took over and outlook now having issues

I was with Centurylink. They forced me to have Brightspeed. I was assured nothing would be affected. They were wrong. I have never used webmail and have always had my webmail forwarded to my Outlook that I had bought. Since Brightspeed has taken over I am having issues. My Outlook 2021 from Microsoft keeps synchronizing and I my emails either won't go out or take forever to come in or go out and it keeps saying synchronizing folders and I have no clue what that means and why today it started doing that. Brightspeed is no help. Centurylink helped me with the POP info to put in and swore there would be no issues but no longer will talk to me since they said I am a Brightspeed customer and I can't talk to anyone with Microsoft. I don't know why this suddenly started today and Brightspeed had no answers and basically just said good luck. I have work emails that I forward to my outlook so I can print to do my teleworking. It's been over 3 hours and I don't even know why synchronizing is or why it's doing this. HELP. I need it to stop doing that and for my emails to come and go quickly like they were doing yesterday. Any ideas or help anyone can give me.

Thank you for posting this. I will get with my nephew as I am scared to mess with this kind of thing and since now you don't get discs...which I miss...I have not clue what the original registry key was. The thing is that I never had any Outlook issues until Centurylink did that upgrade and they blame Outlook for the problem. Well, if my Outlook was fine before the upgrade, it is clear their upgrade totally messed things up. I now have a POP and IMAP account with both getting any email that comes in and before she created the POP...nothing was coming in or taking days but the syncing never stopped which I also didn't have until Centurylink did their infamous upgrade. I'll see when my nephew can come over and try this.

If the IMAP is syncing all the time - start with this registry key - Microsoft is investigating an issue where Outlook doesn't close properly when you have an IMAP account in your profile and this can cause Outlook to have sync issues. There is a registry key to use as a workaround. If you don't want to edit the registry, I have a ready-to-use registry file available https://www.slipstick.com/doit/AllowLOGOUT.reg

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\IMAP

    DWORD: AllowLOGOUTWithoutOK

    Value: 1

If you've already set it, do you have any sync issues? Look in the Sync issues folder in the Folder navigation pane (Ctrl+6 to open it if the buttons are on the bottom). If your Outlook navigation buttons are in a vertical bar on the left, click the bottom icon in the vertical bar and choose Folder. (To switch back to the Mail pane, click the Mail button or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+1. )

Errors will be in red text in the Sync Issues folder.

One option is to change the IMAP sync settings to only sync the inbox - the other folders will sync when you open them.

Go to Send/Receive settings (Ctrl+Alt+S) - select the send and receive group then click Edit. Uncheck get unread count for subscribed folders. Under received items, set it to only check inbox - you can include sent items if you want, but opening the folder will trigger a sync.

Why do they have to have those ads on the side? I can’t see enough of the subject heading in the email list to decide if it’s something I need to read or delete right away. I am also having trouble typing email replies because the cursor disappears in the response box. , I know I send responses, and it acknowledges that, but later I fInd them in draft, or they just disappear entirely.

The email list never loads completely, and often stops at about 20 emails, and then I wait and wait and wait for older ones to load.

    This “improvement” is a disaster.

Bright that took over Centurytel is an absolute Joke & disgrace. We have also sent messages & nothing has been done to correct the problem. It has caused us a lot of problems & cost us a lot & caused immense aggravation & heartache. No one will own up & correct the problems. Yes, a number of things have been re-arranged for us too. Some e-mails that are sent by know associates that we have worked with for years no longer come through to the main Centurytel e-mail site, some come through to the Outlook on our other computer, some never come through at all. Plenty of scam comes through though. Then some good things that we have received from good folks for years, goes to scam. We just discovered that things were not coming through when someone called us & asked us why we were not responding in a timely manner & we had always made a big deal about responding promptly, for years & years. Thank God they called us & we discovered it. Lord only knows if there are any we did not discover. We had to send messages out to all of our associates to call if we did not respond & make them aware of the issue. It was extremely embarrassing. We let Centurytel know & also filled out the form on Bright as we cannot call them directly or e-mail them. They should be ashamed of themselves. I wonder what would happen if we refused to pay the bill...........They were happy to send us a bill & announce their name.........

Well you are doing better than I am. My Outlook is still a mess and not doing as it should. Centurylink has really messed things up and I will be on the phone again with the lady who said she'd call me back in 30 minutes and never called back. I am sure she is busy though which shows a lot of people are having issues.
