New Outlook mode - Light/Dark background setting

Where can I find the below setting when I'm in the "New Outlook" mode:

If you prefer, you can disable dark mode so that the message window is always white when using the black theme. The icons to switch dark mode on or off are disabled when you disable dark mode.

  • In Outlook, go to File > Options.
  • On the General page, look for Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office.
  • Set the Office Theme to Black and select the check box next to Never change the message background color.
  • Select OK.

Thx

Similarly, there is no way to remove the background color (at least not that I've found) when forwarding a message that has a background color. Used to be so easy to do that so that the new message will have white background.

I have a slight variation on this question that I'm hoping someone can help with. I'm using the new outlook in dark mode. However, I want my calendar in light mode, or at least be able to print in light mode. I often print out a weekly calendar to help me with time management, and printing from dark mode makes it illegible. I don't mind viewing it in dark mode, but am also fine if only my calendar is in light mode. I really just need to be able to print in light mode, and find it annoying to have to change the entire appearance to light to be able to print a calendar once a week.

Even stranger, after posting this, mine went back to normal and I didn't change anything. No more white panes, and the links and text are the correct color. Maybe this was a systemwide bug and they fixed it?

Something definitely changed yesterday! I'm also having the same issue, which is how I ended up on this thread. I did notice that when you reply to a message, the formatting returns to the "regular" dark mode view with white text.
