Hi there,
my Outlook for Mac does not download or open any attachments.
The issue persists with various file types such as jpeg, xls, pdf.
The workaround with downloading the files and opening them from the finder does not work, as I am unable to save the attachments. I do see the attachments by name and icon (e.g. Apple Preview PDF icon)
macOS and Outlook are up-to-date:
macOS Version: 12.5
Outlook Version:16.64
The issue appeared on my newly installed Macbook Air M2 with macOS Monterey. On the old Macbook Pro before I did not encounter this issue.
As is, I just cannot work with an Email client not opening attachments. Thanks in advance for any solution.
Best regards,
ste_si
*** Update: Seems to be caused by the "new Outlook". Going back to the legacy Version solves the issue, everything works fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue? ***

This isn’t the problem described in this thread.
There isn't. I tried this very early on (and multiple times since) shortly after getting the email account. I can send new things from it, but I cannot receive anything. Emails sent stay only in Legacy and don't transfer to New.
If you're an admin on your exchange you can look at the various advisories sent out by MS. I know we have all been having this issue prior to this summer, but MS has at least admitted they have a problem. Below is the latest update:

Title: Some users' email with attachments sent from Outlook for Mac may be delivered without attachments User impact: Users' email with attachments sent from Outlook for Mac may be delivered without attachments.
More info: Users can verify if they’ve encountered this problem in Outlook for Mac by reviewing their Sent Items to validate if a sent message contains an attachment. If users don't see the attachment, they can reply to the message in their Sent Items folder to reattach and send the message again.
Current status: We’ve determined that the immediate fix to update attachment logic to reduce instances of this issue from occurring needs to be deployed incrementally at a monitored pace to ensure it successfully remediates impact without adversely impacting other aspects of the service. We've initiated the deployment and anticipate it will reach the affected users by mid-October 2023. We'll aim to provide a precise completion date once one becomes available. Furthermore, the immediate fix will reduce the probability of the issue consistently occurring, though a secondary long-term fix will need to be developed in order to fully resolve the underlining issue and remediate impact. We'll continue to provide updates on the long-term fix alongside the deployment updates for the initial fix.
Start time: Monday, July 10, 2023 at 4:08 PM EDT Root cause: A conflict occurring with how our service detects attachment IDs before sending email in Outlook for Mac is resulting in the service removing attachments on sending email. Next update by: Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 3:00 PM ED
There should be, you need to let it sync up with the server and they will appear, though depending on the amount it may time.
