"New" Outlook: Add Shared Mailbox to Favorites

Not sure what you would be automating. The problem is no visibility of the shared mailbox (which in our case is a paid account not a free one) without expanding an entire tree and scrolling forever.

This should be a complete no brainer for Microsoft. It worked previously. The "mob" redesigned Outlook and broke it. They need to fix it. NOW would be preferable. A year ago would be even better, but NOW will have to do. Fix it and we can all move on to enjoying whatever flavor of features you added in New Outlook. In the meantime, we are all stuck on Outlook Classic and it is Microsoft's fault.

This whole thing sounds like a repeat of New Coke.

I can see the shared mailboxes - already there without me having to add.

Lifting them up into favourites seems a journey also, and I wonder if an update has come through or we are experiencing different previews. However, when you expand the favourites list, you will find, 'add favorite' link at the bottom. Clicking on this and entering the shared mailbox name you can insert the inbox for the shared box.

I have mixed results with this. A couple mailboxes will do the right thing while I have one that isn't providing unread and latest emails (even though I can see it below in the, 'shared with me' list).

After testing some suggestions for adding my shared inbox to the Favorites in New Outlook, I chose to switch back to Classic and it requested feedback and after my submission of the feedback it offered a few references which one pointed to this Development issue and it's future release date October 2024. Let's hope this will be seen in a few months. :-)

I agree with everyone about this being an utter-shambles, and if anyone has read the various pages of posts, you will see various by me expressing my frustrations.

I do think, however, that new posters need reminding, or pointing in the direction of the post I am replying to. Namely this URL:

@Killing-me-MicroSoftly found this on the development roadmap, which states that they expect to be, finally, rolling out this feature by July.

If you read the roadmap item, though, you will see that it seems we will be required to manually add each Shared Mailbox to Outlook, if we want to utilise "All" the features of New Outlook.

This isn't a huge deal for me, as although I do have access to around 30 different Shared Mailboxes, there is only one that I need to be continuously monitoring. This means I would only need to add that one mailbox manually.

However, I think a lot of others out there will have many they need to perpetually monitor, so they will have to manually add each Shared Mailbox 🤦🏽‍♂️.

Moreover, as a Microsoft 365 reseller, it also means that I will need to manually add lots of Shared Mailboxes for my clients, if I want them to have all functionality, and not be continuously calling me asking why they cannot do X, Y and Z, Very frustrating, but at least they are, slowly, progressing with these basic features that should have existed since day one.

We can only hope that, eventually, the "auto-mapping" will simply give us full functionality on all mailbox types, without the need the manually add each.

This really needs implementing it. It's no longer Outlook Preview, so it's baffling it's still not a feature.

There seem to be a lot of users like us that have lots of email accounts and shared mailboxes. The inability to pin these to favourites affects productivity immensely.

It's so easy to miss emails when you have a so many accounts with lots of pined folders for each.

They seem to have removed the "Feedback" button now, too, now that it is no longer "Preview".
