My Outlook inbox is suddenly getting a ton of spam and I don't know how to stop it

I have spent the last hour going through junk/spam emails as I do most mornings now.

I go through each one and using the subject header, I go into "rules" and apply the "subject or body includes" and then the action to delete. No point adding the email as this changes every time. I know the subject heading changes slightly too in most cases. A dot here and so on. I also report every email to MS via the "select all" and report.

Now, I do know this is a complete waste of time as it does not work. The exact same subject headings are getting through, so now I add an action (before the delete action) to forward the message to Microsoft Support, I don't want to give the email on this site but it easy enough to get if you have been in contact with them and had a response..

I have no idea if this will work but I really want MS to go through the pain we are all going through with the ridiculous amount of junk emails we are getting...

I did all the possible actions in my web mail of outlook.com
There is no way to stop those spams because they use different email every time and come from different ip every time.
But they have something common. They mention Elon Musk using a photo of him. (not with text)
Yes I have disabled the downloading of pictures. But I had one time to see a picture to find a way to block them.

I have had this issue since August 2023 and it doesn't get better. As soon I have energy to move everything over to a new email address with another provider I will do it. The issue is that I have had my email address for like 15 years so it will be quite a lot of work but having all these spams everyday is more tiring. I'm sorry but there doesn't seem to be a solution and Microsoft doesn't seem to care 🤷‍♀️.

It doesn't seem that switching email servers is the answer.

I say that because I have 5 totally different email accounts on different servers (Gmail, hotmail, live.com, comcast, and my own business website). I receive all of my email downloaded to the Outlook App on my laptop. ALL of my accounts get SPAM and phishing emails daily. Including the lauded Gmail! Some days "just" 1 or 2, and other days multiple DOZENS.

What is the ROOT CAUSE here? Is the problem at the sending server? The receiving server? The sending or receiving client app?

Really, it's nefarious businesses and individuals that have more time and money to utilize trying to get our time and money. And enough people falling for their scams to make it worth it! It's amazing to me how many SCAM emails get into my inboxes that are @gmail addys! Gmail trusts gmail! So they fill up my inbox!

The solution resides further back in the process than at the email receiving client filtering level. I'm not techy to that degree, so that's above my scope, but the root cause needs to be addressed.

(except that the ultimate root cause is nefarious "bad people doing bad things" because they profit from it in some way!)

I am so sick of it also. It's exhausting getting all this spam--and when I hit "block sender"--the same emails keep coming.

I feel MSN is doing nothing to help its users on this issue.

Yes, I understand the same bath installation and insurance and other fake junk have many, many addresses.

It has gotten much worse in the last two weeks for me. It's about 50 a day I have to hit "block sender"--and they keep coming. Now I hit "delete all."

Please help. Should I switch to another email? I left MSN because they started selling ads to political groups I didn't support.
