How to remove "External" tag in Outlook subject lines

Recently my outlook business account has started tagging emails as "External" with a massive grey box that takes up a third of the available space it the preview pane. It was bad enough in the subject lines but this is making my inbox unusable.

Whoever designed it obviously doesn't use email.

Is there a way to disable the External Tagging?

    Where is the “From” header at top of emails. Then “Field Chooser” in Outlook 365?

    SOLVED Any user can modify this to remove the tag with a small change in the field chooser.

    Create a new custom field, make it text and formula and have it trim.

    For example, call the field "From." select Type, Formula. In the Formula box, enter LTrim([From]) and click okay.

    Insert it as the new field and remove the original From field.

    This thread and its suggestions are for Classic Outlook.

    You are using New Outlook or Outlook on the Web. There is no way to remove it there.

    Here are the instructions to remove the native External tag within Outlook which gets added when your Exchange Online environment has the ExternalInOutlook setting enabled;
    Remove “External” tag from Outlook Message List - MSOutlook.info

    Note that you Exchange administrator might have opted for a different approach, such as modifying the subject or pre-pending the email with a notification. You'll have to talk with your Exchange admin to get those removed as these are modifications of the message itself and just a visual property.
