How to remove "External" tag in Outlook subject lines

This is 100% accurate. It is mind-bending how Microsoft managed to force these things on all users. It's is just so dumb and blind to basic UX/UI principles. This should be an option that the USER can set. Clearly Microsoft did not do user research on this at all. They (typically) sat down with IT administrators but no one else to define requirements. At least 70% of all emails at my company are from external people – meaning I can't even read a summary of the meeting or email in because EXTERNAL blah blah blah makes it impossible, particularly if an event scheduled by a vendor is forwarded or replied to by various external people. This is a UI nightmare. It is absolutely idiotic to receive email after email that is unreadable in my Inbox overview.

PLEASE CHANGE THIS OR PROVIDE A FIX ASAP.

Thank you so much I was desperate to find a fix for this. The giant 'External' box was bumping over the persons name, which was causing me to miss so many emails, and made it so hard to scan my inbox for anything. Moving the 'from' column over one click to the right removed the 'External' tag and it's nearly back to normal and finally less irritating.

If this tag is just not needed, then we cannot implement it so far because it is the result of a product update. It is determined by the relevant design and development department of the product. So I think your suggestion is very meaningful, I also believe that this is the voice of many users, everyone is anxiously looking forward to early improvement, in order not to waste more time for you, better to help you, I strongly recommend that you upload your valuable suggestions to outlook feedback, let the relevant technical developers and designers see your valuable suggestions, please believe that Microsoft relevant departments will try to improve themselves after seeing your valuable suggestions, your valuable opinions will also help more users, make the work more efficient.

Take off the reading pane and you should see it and then you can put it back on after.

Go to view:

Then look for the layout and one should say reading pane. Then change that to off.

Follow the original directions for the work around and then you can put the reading pane back on.
